FROM TUESDAY 13TH APRIL GALLERY & SHOP RE-OPEN, WITH CAFE LIMITED TO OUTDOORS ONLY (CLASSES RESTART UNDER ‘RULE OF SIX’).

Currently we remain closed on #Lockdown3. However, the private studios remain open for our resident artists and makers, with continued use of Social Distancing and face-covering in communal areas. The above framework from KCC gives the official key dates for lifting restrictions… So from Tuesday 13th April we can open the Upper (& Lower) Galleries and Artisan Shop, but can only offer an OUTDOOR-SERVICE from our Gallery Kitchen Cafe (any Classes / workshops can restart, but will be limited to six people including tutor until 21st June). From Tuesday 18th May our Cafe should be fully open to resume indoor service, but still subject to the ‘Rule of Six or 2x Households’ until 21st June.
Watch this space (or see Facebook Page) for further developments.
LOWER GALLERY

The Lower Gallery’s last exhibition ‘Mental Health in Pictures’ from Dorota Chioma (originally Tuesday 27th October to Sunday 8th November – but closed 4pm Wednesday 4th November) was in association with the Centrepieces Mental Health Arts Project. As a result of adaptations to the pandemic the Lower Gallery continues to be even more of a multi-use space hosting all manner of courses and workshops intermingled with the scheduled presentations and exhibitions.
Wheelchair users please note that we do have #WheelchairAccess on both levels, but for the Lower Gallery access is from the back (on Belvedere Road): Cafe or Shop staff will need to be alerted (via the main Abbey Street entrance) to go down and open the double Fire Doors for the rear ramp, then guide people through the corridor.

COVID-19 CLOSURES (SAT 21ST MAR – MON 3RD AUG + THU 5TH NOV – WED 2ND DEC + SUN 20TH DEC – SUN 11TH APR 2021)
This challenging year started with #Lockdown1 (21/03/20 to 03/08/20), and after many modifications we reopened from 04/08/20 to 04/11/20 with all the familiar Social Distancing and major new hygiene measures. We closed again for 4 weeks on #Lockdown2 (05/11/20 to 02/12/20), but re-opened with our Christmas Emporium 2020 in a #Tier3 region from 03/12/20 to 19/12/20, however we had to close it 5 days early ie from Sun 20th Dec, when Kent was raised to #Tier4. On Monday 4th January 2021 #Lockdown3 began, which now appears to be finally ending on Sunday 11th April. (All dates and restrictions remain subject to further government advisory reviews.)

Thankfully we received some vital financial support on 24th April, via Swale Borough Council, to help sustain our NFP Arts Facility for a few months, but we still face very challenging times ahead and need your support more than ever. Any donations will be gratefully received and will help us cover the anticipated huge shortfall in income from severely reduced footfall and sales for the remainder of 2020 and into 2021.
PUBLIC HEALTH (COVID-19) / Re-Opening / Track & Trace UPDATE
Our exhibitions and other activities will resume again from Tuesday 13th April 2021, along with re-opening the Gallery Kitchen Cafe, Artisan Shop, and some workshops/classes. Maintaining Social Distancing with enhanced hygiene measures including wearing Face Coverings minimises the risks of infection, and entry numbers continue to be limited. For everyone’s safety we need cooperation on site, within the building artist/residents are advised to not bring more than two people into their studio/workshop at any time, everyone must keep at least 1m apart, and wash hands / use sanitisers frequently. Initially from the 4th August the limit on students attending courses & workshops was four, but this has increased to five plus the tutor, in keeping with the Rule of Six and until further notice.
