Jennifer Hedley’s regular broadly-based Art Classes (Mondays, 10.30am – 12.30pm) have a loyal following but will always welcome new students wishing to embrace more colour in their work. Yvonne Rigby continues to offer her popular Fused Glass Workshops (as CKJ Artisan) usually on Saturdays. Clare Langlands is offering an ‘Expressive Flower Painting’ 4-week course: 10am – 12pm Thursdays 16th June – 7th July (£80). Nicole Antras has been a Creek studioholder for a few years, and is offering her Basic Drawing Workshop 10.30am – 3.30pm on Sunday 28th August (£50, with only 6 places available).
BACKGROUND
Over the years we have hosted a variety of arts and crafts related short courses and one-off day/half-day/hourly workshops for all age* groups, skill levels and ambitions (with ‘Taster Sessions’ often offered free of charge). Many of these courses & sessions are independently delivered by highly-skilled resident artists or makers, with broad teaching experience, as a vital supplement to their income. The intention has always been to evolve and expand the range of guidance offered, bring together like-minded productive folk, and mix relaxed creative activities with enjoyable and stimulating career development, while serving the fundamental artistic needs of the local community. To date educational activities have included life drawing, oil or acrylic painting, digital photography & manipulation, graphic design, creative upholstery, ceramics / pot-throwing, glass fusion, mask-making / cartoons / out-of-school sessions for kids, linocut printing, drama workshops, Yoga classes, flower arranging, lantern making, stone & wood carving, and mixed-media experimental sculpture.
Many of our courses operated during the working week within office hours, with some provision for evening or weekend sessions (where possible) for any would-be students limited by working full-time. Naturally all courses and workshops are subject to demand, and may be adapted to suit group bookings on application, so please get in touch to discuss potential arrangements and any suggestions you may have for online tuition services.
* Please note: in the past we have hosted activities for younger children, but currently we can only host ages 12+ owing to various Health & Safety issues / hazards relating to significant risks in the building. We apologize for any disappointment.
